Well, here we are waiting for our Delta flight to JFK. Another European trip begins with a short flight to New York’s JFK airport!
Logan International, Boston was my ‘local’ airport, and a very busy one it is. Here we see a Delta Airlines Airbus A319-114 at Gate A3; this efficient twin-turbofan airliner was built in 2002, and is typical of the Delta Airlines short-haul fleet. This particular airliner was built at Airbus Hamburg-Finkenwerder, with the manufacturer’s construction number of #1714. Following satisfactory test flights – with the German registration of D-AVWN – it was initially delivered to Northwest Airlines in April, 2002, with the US registration of N340NB, and assigned their fleet number of #3140.
In October, October, 2008, N340NB became part of the Delta Airlines fleet, constituting part of what was at the time the largest airline in the world, following the Northwest/Delta merger.
This airliner is typical of the Airbus breed, hard-working, and extremely efficient. Despite being just over 21 years old, she is in fine fettle. Let’s take a snapshot of just a single day in the life of November Bravo, namely, 22 July, 2023.
New York (JFK) – Atlanta (ATL), 8:40am – 11.15am
Atlanta (ATL) – New York (JFK), 12:20pm – 2:45pm
New York (JFK) – New Orleans (MSY), 3:45pm – 6:21pm
New Orleans (MSY) – New York (JFK), 7:40pm – 11.59pm
Very impressive, indeed. It is easy to see why Airbus airliners have made such on impression on both US-based airlines and their passengers.
Ah! My flight is being called…
